Bob was born in Kelso, Washington, to Loren Cheney and Jessie (Billie) Cheney. He was raised in Kelso and then moved to Portland, Oregon. He has one brother Duane Cheney.
He is a United States Army Veteran who served in the Korean Conflict.
His first marriage was to Betty F. Padgett and they had a daughter Tina Cheney. He was widowed in 1975.
He then met and fell in love with Marilyn J. DeShazer and they were married in 1979. The family grew as Marilyn brought a son Joe and four daughters, Carol, Kay, Janet and Debra into his family.
Bob loved to fish, boat and golf. He also loved to work with his hands and made wonderful show pieces for the home out of wood or metal.
Bob and Marilyn lived in St. Johns until Bob and Marilyn retired. They picked up their life in Oregon and had a home built in Ocean Park, Washington where they lived for several years. The family always enjoyed going to visit such a beautiful and peaceful place.
Tragedy struck the family when their daughter Kay passed away in April of 2006, followed by the loss of his loving wife Marilyn only 4 days later.
His family then moved him to Vancouver, WA to live with his daughter Debra and her husband Scott where he lived the remainder of his life. His last days were spent with his family by his side.
He is survived by his brother, 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. inthe chapel of Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 4101 NW Skyline Blvd. Portland, OR.
