Otto Daniel Rice

Otto Rice (85) passed away from natural causes in Corvallis, OR. Born in Reno, NV to Lois Marie Hook and Jack Templeton Rice, Otto and his siblings spent their youth in California. He attended the Junior College in Cedarville, CA; Bethany Bible College in Scotts Valley, CA; and finally receiving an Electrical Degree from DeVry correspondence.

In Otto’s years, he enjoyed a successful paper route, hiked Three Fingers Jack, was a Commander with the Royal Rangers (25 years), Air Force (Korean War), 35 years as an electrician at Georgia Pacific in Toledo, Or.

Otto married Mary Lou (Sullivan) Rice in 1957, and for 61 years they raised children Otto Daniel Rice, Jr. (deceased in 1995), Timothy D. Rice (is a medical missionary in Vanga, DRC Africa), Rebecah (Rice) Lutz (owner of Cliffside Coffee & Sweets in Otter Rock, OR), John L. Rice (is owner of Shine Forth Enterprises in Portland, OR); seven grand-children and eight great grandchildren with love and the knowledge of The Lord Jesus Christ.

Along with being a member of the Central Coast Assembly of God church in Newport, OR and of the Lighthouse Assembly of God church in Butte, NE, he enjoyed archery hunting and Pinewood Derby car racing. One of his proudest moments was 1951 when he gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is preceded in death by Otto Daniel Rice, Jr. (son) (Toledo, OR), Father – Jack Templeton Rice (Reno, NV), Mother – Lois Marie Hood, Sister - Verna Kirby (Mena, AK), Sister – Lois Ruth Wood (Mena, AK), Brother – Harry Rice (Rogers, AK). Otto is survived by Wife – Mary Lou (Sullivan) Rice, Son – Timothy Rice (Vanga, DRC Africa), Daughter – Rebecah Lutz (Otter Rock, OR), Son – John Rice (Milwaukie, OR).
