Lloyd was the youngest of eight siblings born to Ira and Mary Ellen Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Mamie Louise (Moore) Malloy, Elda (Moore) Brown, Bernece (Moore) Otteson, Lila (Moore) Whitmill, Dale Moore, Reva (Moore) Burton, Rex Delon Moore, his daughter, Kelli Sue Moore, stepson Scott Owyang, and his beloved wife, Genevieve (Young) Moore.
Lloyd is survived by his children: Robert (Kristin) Moore, Jeffrey (Tia) Moore, and Jolene (Travis) Alcorn; and his many loving grandchildren.
Born on May 10, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lloyd learned strength and hard work through different challenges in his life and from his friends and family. Growing up, working on the family farm taught him dedication, work ethic, and how to enjoy time with others. He also developed a passion for cars - owning many different models during his lifetime. Lloyd attended Ricks College and started a long career with the U.S. Postal Service shortly thereafter. While early in his career with the USPS, he earned a degree from Idaho State University and eventually entered the USPS Postal Inspection Service, where he spent the remainder of his career. His time as a Postal Inspector took him across the country, culminating in his retirement as Inspector in Charge in Portland, Oregon, in 1995.
Lloyd experienced profound personal loss, including the death of his infant daughter, Kelli Sue, from his first marriage, the passing of his stepson, Scott, and the death of his beloved wife, Genevieve (Young) Moore, in 2014. He married Genevieve in 1978, embracing her son Scott, and during the 1980s, welcomed their children Robert, Jeffrey, and Jolene as part of their family. Visits to central Oregon for camping and boating were an annual summer trip Lloyd and his family grew up with, a highlight of family time that created lasting memories. Family and faith as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were central to his life. Lloyd spent the final years he had with his wife, Gen, travelling the US and visiting many of the church’s Temples.
Despite facing some significant health challenges throughout his life, Lloyd remained resilient and optimistic towards life. He was an example of endurance and perseverance. Even after retirement, Lloyd worked part-time as a Portland drawbridge operator for over a decade. In his final years, he lived near family in Washington, California, and Tennessee, and cherished his visits and time with family whenever he could.
Lloyd navigated life's joys and sorrows with quiet strength, hard work, and steady faith. His family was, above all, his highest priority, as was shown throughout his efforts, actions, and love shared throughout his life.
Lloyd was laid to rest and reunited next to his wife at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon, on April 21, 2025
