Kathryn Ann Lindaman

Our beautiful Kathryn left us January 20, 2012. Her courage and strength in her valiant battle against cancer were relentless and awe-inspiring. Kathryn Ann Lindaman was 62 when she died. She was born September 9, 1949 in Loup City, Nebraska. Kathryn met and married her soul mate, Rex Lindaman on August 3, 1974 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She is survived by her husband, Rex and her 3 children, Jeff (Heather) Lindaman, Clackamas, Oregon, Dean (Sandra) Lindaman, Denver, Colorado and Angela (B.J.) MacPherson, San Diego, California, as well as her grandchildren: Hayden Lindaman, Spencer Lindaman, Ava Lindaman, Avery MacPherson, Anna Lindaman and Leyton MacPherson.

She is also survived by her parents Russell and Ella Fread of Kearney, Nebraska, 2 brothers, her twin, Ken Fread (Laura) of Houston, Texas and Monty Fread (Sue) of Kearney, Nebraska and 3 sisters, Mary Erazim, Cindy Collins (Bobby) and Lori Gould (Todd), all of Raleigh, North Carolina and 11 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.

When we think of Kathryn, the phrase “Renaissance Woman” comes to mind. She was the first female trainmaster at Burlington Northern Railroad. She was an avid gardener, putting plants and flowers in the dirt while mixing cement for containers and walls in the morning and in a gown at a fundraising party in the evening. She could plan your garden and your wedding. She could go from knocking the side of your house out, to attending an art exhibit at Portland Art Museum all in a matter of a few hours. She could run three miles at five in the morning, and then rush to help a client write an offer on a home. She was a dynamo on the golf course, and then go inside to run a meeting of the women’s golf group at Riverside Golf Club. She was soft spoken but always had an opinion, and more important, she made life-long friends on the golf course. She was “Nana”, a playmate to all of her grandchildren-she collected rocks, she made pretzels, she read books, she had sleepovers, she played cards, she played golf, she rocked them, she loved them-her family was everything to her. Kathryn, please know that our depth of love for you is indescribable and your loss leaves us with unbearable pain. We will remember you for your unstoppable spirit, grace, sharp wit, strength and honesty. We resolve to carry on your spirit.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, January 24 at 11:00am. In Kathryn’s honor, memorial contributions be made to The Children’s Course, 19825 River Rd., Gladstone OR 97027. Condolences can be left at skylinememorialgardens.com.
