Judy May Buettner

Our beloved Mother, Judy May Buettner, and faithful wife to our Dad, George, for 60 years and 350 days, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 19, 2021. She died peacefully in her sleep with Dad by her side, holding her hand as they slept. All the family had a chance for one last hug, and we are so grateful for that gift.

Judy was born, June 24, 1942, in Panama, Oklahoma. As a young girl, she moved to Stockton, California, to be with an adoptive aunt and uncle. She met George at a church youth group when she was 14. Dad always said it was love at first sight. They stayed in contact for three years: Judy worked for Bell Telephone as an operator while George was away at Bible college. When he returned to Stockton after graduation, he proposed to mom on her 18th birthday at a family dinner. Judy had graduated from Edison High School that June. They were married on September 3 that same year and immediately moved to Eugene, Oregon, where Judy attended college to study Early childhood education and George co-pastored a small congregation in Eugene with a fellow classmate.

Judy was deeply loved by George for her outward beauty but most of all for her inner beauty, radiance, and strength. She was virtuous, a woman of integrity, always positive and thinking of others. (She was George’s confidant and counselor through the years!!). Judy loved the Lord, was a lover of people, was tender, gentle, and genuine--a true servant in lifestyle and attitude! She was a quiet woman of God. She stood faithfully and sacrificially with George as they served in varied forms of ministry to others over their 60 years together. They were a team; she was the quiet one!

Judy loved her family, her 2 sons, Philip (Crystal), Mark, and daughter, DeeAnn Kelly (Don). During the progression of her illness, she was re-introduced to her brother and sister, Don and Liz

Fullen of Albany, Or. Known as “Nana” to all the grandkids, she was uniquely gifted with hospitality; everything was made special by her presence, whether these were holiday gatherings, birthdays, or just going out to dinner as a family. She adored her 8 Grandchildren and 2 greats (with more on the way)! They were in her thoughts and prayers always!

Mom leaves us with a legacy of cherished family memories. We are sad, and we grieve, but not without hope. We love the Lord, and we want to share that hope as Mom would have done.

A private service and interment at Skyline Memorial Gardens are planned for September 3 for the immediate family.
