John J. Brown, a resident of Vancouver, Washington, died on February 4, 2011 in Vancouver. He was 91 years of age.
John was born on January 12, 1920 in Portland, Oregon and was the son of John and Marie (Peterson) Brown. He was raised in Portland and attended Franklin High School. In 1943, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country during WWII. He received an honorable discharge in 1945 at the rank of Corporal.
John worked as a truck driver for LA/Time DC Motor Express. He retired after 25 years of employment. He resided in Ridgefield, Washington for over 30 years and was member of the Teamsters.
He was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, camping and virtually everything that involved being outdoors among nature. He was also a very social person who thrived from being around people.
He is survived by his daughters, Judy O’Neal of Vancouver, Bobbi Hardcastle of Lake Oswego, Pam McDonald of Hillsboro and Jeanne Williams of Vancouver, brothers, Bob Brown, Chuck Brown and Dick Brown and sisters, Dolly Langston and Barbara Jean Muhoberac along with 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. His daughter Kathleen preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 1:00pm at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Contributions may be made in memory of John to the American Cancer Society. Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
