Obituary
Joan Elliott (Johnston) Brady, 90, of Portland Oregon, passed away on October 31, 2020.
She was born in Seattle, Washington on February 18, 1930. Joan graduated from Grant High School in Portland, Oregon; Lewis & Clark University with a B.A and from Portland State University. With a M.Ed.
Joan was married to Richard L. Johnston 1952 and most recently widowed from Melvon Brady.
Joan Brady was an elementary school teacher at Gilbert Heights in the David Douglas School District.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild and as a Lay Minister. She volunteered for Portland Adventist Community Services.
Joan had a special passion for travel, her garden, technology gadgets, reading, holiday decorations, cute clothes, snacks, the beach, ice cream, Frank Sinatra, the Trailblazers, painted toe nails, eating out, the color blue, her grandchildren, iced tea, symphony and ballet, Pacific NW history, feeding the birds and squirrels, and she loved to swim.
Joan is survived by two daughters Nancy Zavada and Sally Stai and 10 grandchildren. She was the only child of Colvin and Opal Elliott.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
