Jacque was born June 28th, 1933 in Veblen South Dakota to James and Grace Steen.
She was the eldest of three children, brother Bobby, and sister Carol. Jacque had fond memories with her loving parents, brother, and sister. Jacque married Leo D. Ross of the United States Air Force in 1954. She and Leo had three children, Rock, Mark, and Sam. Jacque worked hard to go to college and earn her degree while balancing a family to pursue her desire to become a teacher. She went on to become an elementary school teacher until her retirement. After her marriage with Leo ended, she would eventually met the love of her life, Richard French and they married in May of 1980. They were married for twelve wonderful years before his passing in January of 1993. His memory was close to her always and she would often express how deeply she loved and missed him. Jacque loved many things including her family, her church Southminster Presbyterian in Beaverton, the Oregon coast, good food, swimming, and traveling. She was able to travel a lot in her later years going on many adventures with her friends at church. She cared deeply about social issues and volunteered often to try and help make a positive change in the world. Jacque was very social and loved to keep herself busy on adventures with friends. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach and mushrooming. In her last few years, she suffered from dementia and complications related. She passed peacefully in her sleep on January 7th, 2021, she was 87 years old. She leaves behind several family members that will miss her dearly, including her sister, sons and step-daughters, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
