Eileen Hallee was a force of nature.  I was fortunate enough to have met her back in the 80’s and share adventures with her in Alaska, Europe Oregon and Hawai’i.  She was always in motion.  Her energy kept her walking, hiking, biking, running marathons with Tom, playing tennis, learning languages, volunteering, becoming a counselor, going to garage sales, reading, birdwatching and enjoying life with Tom and friends.  Her adventures took her to Guam, Australia, Europe and all over the U.S.    I will always remember my friend this way….. full of life and energy.   I will miss playing Rummikub with her, enjoying her wombat collection and popping a bottle of bubbly.

A toast to Eileen……you will always live in our hearts.


Dear Tom,

You and Eileen were the most adventurous couple I’ve ever known.  Our friendship started on Maui in November 1980 on a hike up to Waikapu Valley. in my book,  forty-year friendships have a special  designation—friends for life.  

For Diana and I, being your friends for life means treasured memories on 4 Hawaiian Islands, Germany, Alaska, Canada, Australia, Manzanita and Portland.

Spending time with both of you kept us, traveling, birding, playing rummikub, laughing and enjoying life to the fullest.  

Thank you for the fondest, funnest memories of a lifetime.

We will really miss Eileen. She had such a strong, adventurous and warm spirit. You all so many adventures between the two of you and may her memory be such a blessing in the days and years to come. Whenever I see a wombat or a humu fish, a smile comes over my face and I think of Eileen. And oh what a love for birds she had too! She was such a kind and gentle soul and will be sorely missed. She was a testament to living and loving life to the fullest, honoring all of life's plants and little creatures. Sending you our love during this difficult time. I knew Eileen as a high-school classmate.  We dated briefly after her senior year of high school.  We mainly played tennis under the lights at the Pacific University courts for hours and hours.  She was a very good athlete and a fun personality.  I am saddened by her passing and hope all her loved ones find peace.
