In 1957, her family left Mississippi to move to Hermiston Oregon and in the early 1960’s moved to Pendleton Oregon, where she attended middle school and graduated from Pendleton High School in June 1967. As a teenager, Cynthia loved to style hair which led her to attend and graduate from beautician school. Cynthia worked at several beauty shops before owning, The Hair Creations in the mid 70’s, working over 50 years in the Portland community, until she semi-retired in 2010.
Cynthia had a love of singing. Her love of singing led her to sing with Ruby and The Wanderers for several years. Cynthia also loved traveling, some of the places she traveled to were Jamaica, Aruba, Antigua, Las Vegas, Florida and several cruises.
Mrs. Cynthia McPherson- Livingston was united in holy matrimony to Anthony Livingston March 2, 1977, blending a family of six children. She was a loving, caring and supportive Mother and Grandmother. Cynthia had a passion for cooking. One of her sons said that everything she cooked was delicious. She also took special pride in helping to raise several of her grandchildren.
She prayed constantly and never doubted the power of prayer. Her Christian faith was as beautiful as the flower garden that she so loved to tend. Cynthia always accepted people into her heart and home with open arms, her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Cynthia quietly departed this life at the age of 73, Friday January 27, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving husband and children. Shortly following her death, her son, Andrew Holmes Jr. passed on Monday, January 30, 2023. She was preceded in death by the following: her beloved Mother Clara Doe, her step father, Hollis Doe, Sr., and her siblings Barbara Randall, Flora Willingham and Robert Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 46 years, Anthony Livingston, Children Sherlonda, Keisha, Anthony Jr., Tremayne, Tacita, 23 Grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren, Siblings Jean Anderson, Hollis Doe, Leroy Doe, Janice Doe; Brother-in-law Francis (Joann) Livingston, Mike (Rose) Livingston. Aunts and uncles, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cynthia will be greatly missed by friends, family and loved ones.
