Bessie Thompson was born on October 27th, 1917 to parents Joseph and Isabelle Humphrey. She grew up in Nampa, Idaho and moved to Portland in the early '40s. Bessie was Mormon by faith, and attended the Damascus Ward LDS Church. Bessie married Chester Thompson, the love of her life on July 1st, 1939 in Nyssa, Oregon. She was known for being a great cook, a beautiful seamstress, and an avid solitare player. Bessie also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and camping with her family.
Bessie was predeceased by her husband, Chester, sister, Mary Goodrich, brother, Dick Humphrey, brother, Alex Humphrey and daughter, Jackie Payne. She is survived by her son, Chet Thompson Jr. (Linda), daughter, Goldie Snellgrose, daughter, Georgene Henson (Ben), son, Charles Thompson (Dixie), son in law, John G. Payne, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life Potluck on Friday, May 10th, at Chuck's house.
