Ronald was born September 28, 1949, the only child of George and Louise Spear of Gardiner. He graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 1968, he then served in the US Air Force from 1969 to 1970.
Always a sports fan, his entire life he enjoyed playing, watching and collecting sports cards and memorabilia. He was also a collector of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. He was a fan of the Raiders, Patriots, Red Sox and Atlanta Braves.
His love of all animals is well known by all who called him friend. In his adult years he always had a dog or two, sometimes more. He loved to feed and watch the wildlife in his backyard, and on more than one occasion saved an injured or baby animal.
In 1991 he met the love of his life, Kimberly (Whitehouse) Arseneau. They were married on October 21, 2000 by his lifelong friend, Judy Leavitt, at friends home in Richmond. Thru the years, they enjoyed getting together with friends, playing many games of cards and “backyard” bocce ball, on the court Ron created and maintained himself. Walking in the woods, or snowshoeing with the many dogs he owned over the years. Ron also enjoyed riding his bike, sometimes as a means of transportation to work, and a memorable 50 mile ride on his 50th birthday.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly, his two dogs, Carrie & Danny, friends, cousins and in-laws. Thanks to all of you who offered your support, rides and your time. Special thanks to Karen Sharpe for being there for support, transportation, dog sitting and basically being Kim's rock. Thanks as well to most of the staff at the Androscoggin Hospice House for the care he received during his stay.
At Ron's request there will be no service. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society.
