Portland: Nick Rovnak passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2017. He was born in Portland on May 27, 1992. He grew up in North Deering and graduated from Portland High School in June 2011. Nick studied biology at Clark University in Worcester, MA and graduated, cum laude, in May 2016
.
Nick played soccer from his childhood through high school and played in the Class A state championship game in fall 2010 for PHS. At Clark University, Nick participated in intermural soccer, volunteered for Clark graduations and studied abroad in the Lier Luxembourg Program during May 2013.
For many summers, Nick enjoyed being a camp counselor and spending time with the campers at First Lutheran Day Camp. Nick also loved nature and, in particular, walking along the Presumpscot River near his home. He had a fond place in his heart for his cats James and Lucy.
He is survived by his parents, Peter and Beth Rovnak of Portland, his beloved brother, Tim of Portland, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is greatly missed by his family and friends.

The family invites you to attend visiting hours and share your stories on Tuesday February 7th from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 8th at 11:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Stevens Ave. Committal will follow at a later date in the spring.
