Margaret was born in Lawrence, MA on October 12, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Isabella W. (Foster) Milliken. Margaret moved to Portland as a teenager and attended local schools. During WWII, Margaret worked for the Naval Department. Later, she was employed by Maine Central Railway. For over 25 years, Margaret worked as Assistant to the Administrator for the Portland Regional Vocational Technical Center, a job she dearly loved.
Margaret led an active life well into her 90's. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. Margaret volunteered with the Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project for over 20 years where she made many friends. She was a lover of dogs and enjoyed the company of her loving family.
Predeceasing Margaret is her first husband Donald K. Minott and their son Paul Minott, her second husband Eugene Minott, a sister Jessie Harris and a brother George Milliken.
Surviving is her daughter Donna Ward and her husband Mike of Exeter, NH, their children, Brian and Rachel Ward, a daughter-in-law Cheryl Minott and her children, John Minott, Heather Tompkins and her husband Terris, and great-grandchildren; Casandra Greco and Gabriella Tompkins. Also surviving are loving nieces and nephews; Robert and Janet Milliken, Alex Milliken, George Milliken, Margaret and Carl Thompson, Judy and Joe Talbot, Carl and Linda Harris and Richard and Pauline Harris.
A period of visitation for Margaret and her family will be held this Friday, March 15, 2013 from 11 am to 12 pm at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the Minott family suggests memorials be made in Margaret's name to the Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project, PO Box 547, Portland, ME 04112.
Care for Margaret and her family has been entrusted to the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home of Portland, Maine.
