Janet Emerson Post

Janet Emerson Post, 98 years old, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in North Berwick, Maine on February 11, 2021. She was strong, funny, stubborn, brilliant and very loving right to the end.

Janet grew up in Connecticut, earned her RN at Providence Hospital and worked as a nurse throughout her life. She met her husband, Robert Post at the end of WW11. They married and raised their four children in Manchester, CT.

She leaves her children Robert Post, Jeanne Emerson and her husband Timothy, Elizabeth Welsh, with whom she lived for thirteen years, and Cindy Scholtens and her husband Willem. She had ten grandchildren: James and Robby Stevenson, Jeanne Welsh, Matthew Blasik, Robert, Rory and Ryan Post, Bill, Lizzy and Ethan Scholtens and her beloved great grandchildren: Myles, Mason and Max Santos who called her GG and Matthew and Mia Blasik who called her Grandma GiGi. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Robert Stanley Post, her grandchild, Scott Robert Blasik, son in law, Charles Welsh, and infant daughter Mary.

Our family thanks the incredible network of family and friends who helped to make it possible to keep mom safe, well cared for and peaceful in her final days. Special thanks to Cornerstone VNA’s hospice team for their loving care and to Renee, Liz and Diana for their extraordinary kindness and attentiveness.

A celebration of Janet’s life will occur in the spring.
