Frances Marie Bushey

Frances Marie Bushey was born in Portland, Maine on 9/23/1946 to parents Mary and Lincoln Sloan. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Portland, Maine on 11/21/2024 at the age of 78. Her grandson Billy lovingly took care of her so she could remain in her family home.

Frances met the love of her life Bill Bushey at a Cheverus dance. They quickly became High School sweethearts. Frances and Bill were married on July 1st, 1967, shortly after graduating from Portland High School. Bill soon joined the army and they were stationed in Fort Hood, texas. They soon welcomed their first son William Bushey Jr. Then, five years later they welcomed their second son Stephen Bushey in Portland, Maine.

Frances was always known as the life of the party. She hosted annual Fourth of July parties for all family and friends, they created so many lasting memories. She always looked forward to her weekly visits with her great grandson, Partick. Frances loved being nosey, reeses cups, coffee and reality TV. But she especially loved all of her boys, Frances held family above everything else. Her sons, grandsons and great grandson were her pride and joy.

Frances is predeceased by her loving husband William Bushey Sr, son William Bushey Jr., sister Linda Sandborn, and baby brother James Sloan.

She is survived by her son Stephen Bushey and significant other Kirsten Helfer, Daughter in Law Barbara, grandson William Bushey III, grandson Zachary Bushey and wife Amber Bushey, great grandson Patrick Bushey, sister Mary Beaulieu and husband Brian of Florida, her great grand puppies Yoda, Zoey, and Chunk, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Frances had a warmth and sense of humor that will never be forgotten.

Funeral will be at Jones Rich and Barnes Funeral Home 199 Woodford St, Portland ME on December 9th from 10am immediately followed by a committal service at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
