Cape Elizabeth, ME – Dolores Eck Ellis, 92, of Cape Elizabeth, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024. Dolores was born in Staten Island, New York, to Felicia (Stawski) Eck and Douglas M. Eck on June 2, 1932.
She attended schools in New York, Cape Elizabeth, ME and graduated from Westbrook College. She worked at Sealtest and was also a tour guide with AAA.
Her most celebrated acts of service over her lifetime included being a Beta Sigma Phi Life Member, recorded books for the blind, volunteered at Cottage Farms School Library & Teacher Aide and at the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. She was a Eunice Frye Board Treasurer, served on the Garden Club
Federation of Maine Board as Assistant Treasurer & Parliamentarian and was a member of the Female Samaritan Association. She served as President of the Woman’s Woodford Club, the Beta Sigma Phi City Council, Cape Elizabeth Garden Club, Longfellow Garden Club, TB Reed Unit of Parliamentarians and the Maine Association of Parliamentarians.
She married the love of her life, Oliver D. Ellis Jr., on May 8, 1954. They raised their family and were married for 70 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and being involved in her community.
Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver D. Ellis Jr.; and her parents, Felicia (Stawski) Eck and Douglas M. Eck.
Dolores is survived by her son Douglas Ellis and his wife Nancie of Freeport, ME, her son David Ellis and his companion Pat Rivard of Harstine Island, Washington; her three grandchildren Daniel Ellis and his wife Catherine, Amanda Ellis and her husband Andrew Sloat, and Scott Ellis; her great-grandson Christopher Henderson.
