Walter was born January 25, 1936 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Walter J. Stanton Sr. and Helen Stanton nee Dwyer. He was a resident of Shelton, Connecticut.
Walter was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft with 36 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Walter learned the basics of the computer, and finding google opened up a whole new world on his Ipad. He cherished the sunshine and warm days in Florida with his daughter Jodi and In his spare time, Walter could be found playing with his pets, learning something new on the History Channel, or boating with his son-in-law and neighbors. Walter will always be remembered for his love of laughter.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Fay A. Stanton; sister, Patricia Sibbick; son, Sean C. Stanton; granddaughter, Jayce H. Cassin; and a great grandson, Leo Caputo.
Survivors include his brother, Vincent Stanton (Barbara); children, Cindy Stanton, Deborah Stanton (Gary Fitzgerald), Shari Stanton (Robert), Walter J. Stanton III, and Jodi Boyko (Michael); grandchildren who knew him as “Poppy”, Heather Thompson, Gerald Cassin, Melissa Lydon, Melinda Caputo, Samantha Stanton-Fitzgerald, Hannah Hill, Robert Hill, and Michael Boyko; his great grandchildren whom poppy really enjoyed as well, Angel, Rayne “Chili Pepper”, Meadow, Bella, Delaney, Lily, Luca, and Dominic; and his great-great grand daughter who he leaves lots of love to, Miya Jayce.
A Celebration of Walter’s life will be held Sunday October 8, 2017 from 1-2 pm with a service at 2 pm at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive Port St. Lucie, Florida 34983. There will also be a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church , 150 Chapel Street in Stratford, Connecticut on October 28, 2017 at 11 am.
