Vincent Zofrea, also know as Jimmy to family and friends, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife Hilda by his side, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Vincent was born in Brooklyn, New York and was the fourth child of Maria and John Zofrea, from Catanzaro, Italy.
He is survived by his wife Hilda and sister Mary Castiglione. Vincent is predeceased by his sisters Lena Zofrea, Clara Zofrea, Anna Zofrea, brother Pasquale Zofrea, sisters Rose Bruno, and Margret Fazzina. He will be greatly missed by his ten nieces and nephews, Anthony, Diane, Janet, Laura, John, Barbie, Fran, Marie and Janine and Peter. From time to time, he provided family members with counsel and guidance on different matters and concerns.
Vincent attended Abraham Lincoln High School and went to Pratt University in Brooklyn where he received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. Shortly after graduation he was drafted in the US Army where he served for two years with a one year tour in the Korean war.
He was employed by Remington Rand, UNIVAC Division for many years. Then went to work for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He retired after 21 years of service. Jim and his wife Hilda then moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida where you could find him playing golf often with his brother-in-law Vinny and other family members.
Vincent joined St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus council, in 2003 and served as Financial Secretary and Treasurer and was an active member for many years. He and his wife enjoyed frequent cruises, vacations and visits to family up north. His ties to family and friends were strong and caring.
Viewing is scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Aycock Funeral Home at 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. On June 11, 2024 a funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 350 NW California Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986. Following will be graveside services at White City Cemetery, 3800 Sunrise Blvd, Fort Pierce, FL 34982.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 350 NW California Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986, in memory of Vincent Zofrea.
