Richard L. Moore

PORT ST. LUCIE - Richard L. Moore, age 77, entered heaven peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at home with his wife and daughters by his side. He was born in Miami, the son of Willard and Maxine Moore.

During his childhood in Miami, Richard was not only a Little League champion and the number one pitcher on a team that included future Hall-of-Famer Steve Carlton, but he was also voted best dancer at North Miami Junior High School. From a young age others began to recognize his gift for bringing out the best in people, and though he was humble, he became a natural leader. His dance and baseball careers stalled as Richard entered adulthood, but his fierce determination and knack for lighting up a room only grew stronger. Richard’s game changed to men’s softball, where he quickly excelled as both a player and as a manager. He and his teams went on to win multiple National Championship titles. And beyond just being a helluva softball player and manager, Richard’s natural leadership ability lent itself to coaching his daughters’ fast pitch Little League teams.

Richard also became a pretty good scratch golfer. While he never quite achieved the elusive 68 he always hoped to shoot, Richard did make a hole-in-one on Spring Lakes Golf Resort Hawk Hole #2 in April of 1997.

In 1972 Richard moved to Port St. Lucie to start his business, Master Craft Aluminum Products. Surprising no one who knows him, Richard not only became a successful businessman but a leader and innovator in his field, eventually serving three elected terms as president of the Aluminum Association of Florida.

Richard was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Freemason and a Shriner. He enjoyed the friendships he made through these organizations and was proud to support the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.

Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheryl; daughters Monica Jackman of Port St. Lucie and Melissa Baldauff of Shorewood, Wisconsin; sons-in-law Jeff Jackman of Port St. Lucie and Joe Zepecki of Shorewood, Wisconsin; grandchildren Gabriella Sage, Alexa Baldauff, Jonah Richard Baldauff, Maxim Moore-Jackman, Miles Moore-Jackman, and Paxton Richard Moore-Jackman; great grandson Isaac Mayo; cousin Debra Fergusson; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale Moore.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Port St. Lucie on October 9, 2021 at 11:00 am, followed by a celebration of life event at the American Legion Post 318 in Port St. Lucie at 1:00 pm.

Richard was a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan and avid supporter of the Florida Gators and Tampa Bay Rays. He enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and other westerns and never met a stranger. A true Renaissance man, Richard knew it all and could do it all, with a smile, a laugh and a booming voice (two different voices, actually) that could encourage, comfort, uplift, entertain, and educate. Above all, he was an authentic man of faith, strength, and integrity who would most want to be remembered for his enduring love for wife Sheryl and daughters Monica and Melissa.
