Don was born on January 4, 1945 to John Joseph Menton and Harriett Marie Fetsch of Queens, New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1962 and after two tours of duty in Vietnam was awarded a Bronze Star and honorably discharged in 1966. He then attended USC. After his graduation he served as a police officer in Oceanside, CA and later transferred to the Los Angeles police force. Later in life he owned and operated a home improvement business.
Don was passionate about playing golf, sipping Dewars, and could often be found on the golf course or at Mac’s (Lowry’s) when he wasn’t at home. He always had a good joke ready to go and gave those he cared for clever nicknames. He loved animals, and owned many dogs in his lifetime, we are comforted knowing that he was greeted by all of them at the Rainbow Bridge.
Anyone who knew Don knew that he was a loving husband and father. Don was predeceased by his parents and oldest daughter Victoria Rita Hunt. He is survived by his wife Judy Alcorn of 29 years and 3 daughters, Deborah Willoughby and husband Matt of Hurst, TX, Patricia Vancelette-Malacos of Hudson, FL, Donna Hennis and husband Eric of Pembroke Pines, FL and 7 grandchildren.
A memorial service for Donald will be held Friday, May 7, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 Southeast Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida 34983.
