Andrew "Drew" Castro (1945-2024) passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2024 while he was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Three things Drew dedicated his life to were God, country, and his family. He was also known and referred to by many as the "Candyman".
His love for the Lord kept him serving people for fifty-two years, and he held many different positions within the church throughout those years. Most recently, he served his time as an elder for sixteen years at his home church.
Drew enlisted into the United States Navy in 1963, and served faithfully on both the USS Cogswell and USS Dixie as a Communications Yeoman until he was honorably discharged.
Prior to his retirement with the City of Port St. Lucie in 2014, he had various careers within the department such as Animal Control Officer, Code Enforcement Officer, and Civilian Traffic Investigation.
Andrew is preceded in death by his late parents, and more recently his beloved older sister. In addition, he leaves behind five siblings and their spouses, a brother-in-law and his wife, cousins, and eighteen nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving bride of fifty-six years, daughter, son(s)-in-law, and seven grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Drew will take place on June 22, 2024 at Calvary Port St. Lucie. Sanctuary doors will open at 9:30 a.m. to begin receiving friends. Service will begin at 10:00 a.m.
A Military Service and those who currently wear any type of uniform (Military or Law Enforcement) should be in service dress. For those not in the Military the family would like to honor Drew in either Red, White, or Blue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the "Wounded Warrior Project ". The link to donate is support.woundedwarriorproject.org
