Gary Melray LaFond, 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 13, 2017. Gary was born January 26, 1955, in Milwaukee, WI, to Melray and Darlene LaFond. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Rockford, IL, in 1973.
He married his high school sweetheart and love-of-his-life, Karen Anderson, in 1974. Karen and Gary moved to Prairie du Chien, WI, in 1976. He was a real estate broker at LaFond Realty. They moved to Port Orange, FL, in 1986. He worked for Sunrise Olds Toyota for 10 years. He was a real estate broker for Adams Cameron Realtors from 1996 until present.
Gary had a Wisconsin soul and a Florida heart. He loved the Green Bay Packers and loved hosting his family and friends every Sunday to cheer on the Packers. He loved nature watching especially birds, deer and bear. He enjoyed James Bond movies, fishing in the back slews of the Mississippi River, the Caribbean Islands, and spending time with Karen and his family. Gary was, is, and always will be the shining light of the LaFond Family.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Karen (Anderson) LaFond; his 4 children Joey (Hallie) LaFond, Darcy (Jason) Hanna, Kristy (Ryan) Erisman, and Doug LaFond; his 5 grandchildren Austin and Trent Hanna, Jacob LaFond, Ryan and Rylee Erisman; his mother Darlene LaFond; siblings Debbie (Jack) Tenison, Karen (Emerson) Unger, Wendy (Buckley) Marsh, Glen (Liz) LaFond, Shelley LaFond; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, at 2 p.m., and the Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL 32129.
