Catherine passed away peacefully, April 2nd, at her home with her Children at her side. Cathie was born December 30, 1927 in Jersey City, New Jersey and attended St. Aloysius High School. Following graduation and other coursework, Cathie worked as a Dental Assistant before joining Bell Labs in their Reproduction Department. After meeting her future husband, Harold Turley, on a blind date, she and “Howie” were married for fifty years. They shared a rich and full life together. Cathie and Howie raised two Children, a daughter Kathleen and a son, Chris. As the kids got older, Cathie enjoyed working with children as a Special Education and Pre-School Classroom Aide until she and Howie settled permanently in Daytona Beach Shores “on the Beach” at Oceans II for 25 years. There, Cathie enjoyed helping her best friend and daughter, Kathleen, with the Daytona Beach Camera Club and loved leading an enthuastic group of friends in their water aerobics group at Oceans II.
Cathie, a woman of great faith, loved her time with her family,friends and the great things life has to offer. Howie predeceased Cathie in 2001. Cathie is survived by her son, Chris and daughter-in-law Kym, of State College, PA, her daughter, Kathleen of Daytona Beach Shores, her grandsons, Kevin and Ryan, their wives, Janet and Tracy and grand daughters Olivia and Kylin, all of Atlanta, GA.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church201 Lafayette St. Port Orange, Fl, followed by a reception there at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Cathie’s name, be made to Christian Foundation for Children and Aging 1 Elmwood Ave Kansas City, KS 66103 or Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange, Fl 32129.
