Michael Lynn Smart

Michael Lynn Smart, 42, of Perry, Ohio, formerly of Glenwood Springs, CO, passed away July 23, 2012. He was born Dec. 1, 1969 in La Marque, TX, to Gary Smart and Marolyn McKibbon Cummins. He was a Safety Site Manager with AMEC in Memphis, TN. Michael loved his family, playing golf, skiing, fishing and animals. After graduating from Glenwood Springs High School, he attended college at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. He was a successful commodities trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and graduated from Paramedic school. Michael’s family and friends will miss his giving nature, warm smile and nurturing parenting skills.

He is survived by his immediate family of, Tracy Smart; daughter, Morgan and son, Mason Smart of Perry, OH; parents, Jim and Marolyn Cummins of Port Lavaca, TX, Gary and Gail Smart of Nacogdoches, TX; stepmother, Connie Smart of League City, TX, grandmother, Mary Jo McKibbon of Port Lavaca, TX; sisters, Sherri (Mike) Kirschbaum of Lakewood, CO, & Sheila (Kip) Schmaltz of Missouri; brother, Shannon Cummins of Port Lavaca, TX; uncles, Sonny (Rhonda) McKibbon of Edna, TX, Charles (Jan) Cummins of Aurora, CO, and aunts, LaVerne (Jerry) Miller of Port Lavaca, TX, Dorothy (Glynn) Wells of New Caney, TX, Sarah (George) Piland of Crossville, TN. Michael’s nieces were Charlee & Lily Cummins and nephews were Chase Cummins and Cole Kirschbaum. He treasured his family relationships with his loving cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward L. McKibbon, Sr. and Earl and Vida Smart, all of Port Lavaca, TX.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 30, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. in Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, Port Lavaca, TX
