Melvin Cleo Thompson, 100, of Seadrift passed away May 8, 2017. He was born February 11, 1917 in Gilmer, TX to the late Jim and Nora Sisson Thompson. Melvin worked for Brown and Root as a mill wright. He was known for his love of bass fishing and gardening and was a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Seadrift.
He is survived by his daughter; Linda Brasseux; son, Jerry Thompson; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Thompson and second wife, Lena Thompson; daughter, Betty Lively; son, Floyd Thompson; 1 sister and 1 brother.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church of Seadrift with Brother Marcos Gohlke officiating. Burial will follow in Seadrift Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Murlyn O’Briant, Jackson Cross, Joseph Nunley, Kenneth Kirchner, Jerry Weaver and Douglas Daggs. Honorary Pallbearers are Dennis Wittnebert Sr., Mark Wittnebert, Marcus Blevins, Ronald Wooldridge and Terry Maddux.
