She was born June 4, 1932, in Gonzales, Texas, to W.C. and Willie Moore.
Katie retired from Alcoa after 40 years in 1994. She served as Commissioner of the Port Lavaca/Point Comfort Navigation District and was on the Port Lavaca City Council.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents, husband M.L. (Shorty) Johnson, sister Elvis Roberts, and brothers Kenneth Moore, William, Roscoe, and Julius Jennings.
She is survived by her daughter Twinkle Johnson, grandchildren Meagan Crawford, Ryan (Jacoby) Crawford, Mila Crawford, Dax Crawford, and many nieces and nephews.
Officiating her funeral will be Hugh Jennings.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Crawford, Leon Jennings, Brian Jennings, Jimmy Cox, Ira Davidson, and Joshua Whitaker.
Special thanks go to her loving caregiver Mary Ann Carriles and Harbor Hospice, especially Stephanie and Claudia.
There will be a graveside funeral Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery at 2 p.m. in Port Lavaca.
