Kathryn Suzanne Presley of Port Lavaca, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at the age of 88. Suzanne was born on October 18, 1935, in Dunnville, Ontario, Canada to the late Douglas and Frances Weaver. She spent her childhood in Canada and in multiple locations throughout the United States, graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, Texas in 1953 and attended the University of Texas at Austin. She married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Thomas C. Edwards, PhD in 1957, with whom she had 2 children. She was widowed in 1969. She married Edward Presley of Caldwell, Texas in 1971 and resided in Caldwell until 2000, when they moved to Port Lavaca where she remained until her passing.
Suzanne was the mother of David Edwards and wife Susie of Yorba Linda, California, Donna (Edwards-Presley) Hornsby and husband Michael of Lewisville, Texas, and Michael Presley and wife Denisa of Rockport, Texas. She is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Edward Presley, former principal of Calhoun High School, her 3 children and their spouses, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Diane Dietert of Marble Falls, Texas, brother Graeme Weaver, of Bryan, Texas and her granddaughter, Samantha Hornsby.
Suzanne was a long-time employee of the Caldwell Independent School District, putting her love of books to great use as the Librarian at Caldwell Middle School and as a substitute teacher. She was an avid reader, sometimes reading as many as 4 or 5 books a week. She was quite creative, producing beautiful cross stitch and embroidery pieces and practicing many other crafts, and owned her own craft and needlework store at one time. She also loved gardening, sewing, cooking, baking and fishing. In her retirement, she enjoyed world travels with her husband, Edward, logging over 500 days on cruises to exotic and historic locations all over the world. When not traveling, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and attended the First United Methodist Church of Port Lavaca.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
