Cristobal entered the United States with his parents on May 3, 1923, at the young age of 10 months. In October of 1942, Cristobal was drafted into the Army and served in WWII. During his time of service, he was a Heavy Machine Gunner with the 13th Airborne Anti-Aircraft Battalion in the European Theater of Operations. During this time, he loaded, aimed, cleaned and fired heavy machine guns providing fire power to tactical units through enemy defenses and against enemy aircraft, motor vehicles and counter attacks. Also, throughout his service, Cristobal, fired a variety of hand weapons such as a rifle, a rifle grenade launcher, a bayonet, and threw hand grenades. He was known for being able to make range estimations rapidly and accurately. Cristobal was discharged from Military Service in February of 1946 from Camp Fannin Texas.
Throughout his civilian career, he worked at the Shellfish, and for Morgan Daniel Shrimp Company.
Cristobal is survived by his daughter, Yolanda M. Gonzalez and husband Robert Gonzalez Sr., grandchildren; Kathrene Garcia and husband J.D., and Robert Gonzalez Jr.. He also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Zackary Garcia, Jada Garcia, Ruben Garcia, and T.J. Garcia and wife Natalie, as well as his great great granddaughter, Zoey Garcia, sister, Matilde Bravo and brother, Eugeno Morales, Sr. All who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneve Gonzalez Morales, Sisters, Carmen Salinas, Bernice Gonzales, and Maria Sista Mendez; Brothers, Lolo Morales, Ricky Morales, Cenon Morales, and Braulio Morales.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 8, 2020, from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, followed by a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020, 10 a.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, immediately followed by burial in Port Lavaca Cemetery with full Military Honors.
