Ken has a long list of accomplishments including; the author of a book on noted Port Jefferson photographer Arthur S. Greene; numerous local history articles in the Echoes of Port, Port Times Record, and North Shoreian; two works on the school centralization movement; pamphlets, calendars, markers and guides.
Preparation of over fifty local history exhibits at the Port Jefferson Village Center, 2005-2014, including shows on banking and business, food and lodging, St. Charles Hospital, the Port Jefferson Fire Department, and area artists.
Voluntarily administered the Port Jefferson Digital Archive; archived over 16000 images; provided information about local history to village officials, residents, journalists, historians, and researchers; placed over 3500 images on the Village's website.
Video presentations, such as a television appearance on "Snapshot", WLIW21, discussing Port Jefferson's maritime history; an NPR interview; audio presentations, such as telephone recordings featuring local history.
Local history lectures at the Port Jefferson Free Library, Port Jefferson Village Center, Setauket Neighborhood House, and Port Jefferson Country Club.
Donation of personal collection of Port Jefferson photographs, books, postcards, and ephemera to Port Jefferson Village.
He also held many leadership positions, which included; Port Jefferson Village Historian, Board of Directors, Suffolk County Historical Society, Trustee of the Port Jefferson Historical Society, President of the Port Jefferson Harbor Conservancy, Chairman of the Suffolk County Board of Public Disclosure, Commissioner of the Suffolk County Tercentenary Commission, Board of Directors of the Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council and Board of Directors of the Long Island North Shore Heritage Area (LINSHA).
In addition to all of his accomplishments, Ken was also the recipient of the following awards: Man of the Year Award in Civics, 2007, Port Times Record; Volunteer Extraordinaire Award, 2007, Port Jefferson Village and People of the Year Award, 2013, Port Times Record.
Ken retired from the Sachem School district after 33 years. He taught Advanced Placement American history and Long Island history, grades 11-12; served in various administrative positions including chairperson of the High School's Social Studies Department.
A graveside service and interment for Ken will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Liberty Avenue, Port Jefferson, NY 11777.
