Nils Floden

Nils Floden, of Sherman, Pennsylvania, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Mercy House of the Southern Tier. He was born in 1938 in Bernardsville, New Jersey to the late Gunnar Floden and Julia (Holick) Floden. He is predeceased by his first wife, Joan (Small) Floden, and their infant son, Vernon. He is survived by their other children, Nils Floden, Mark Floden, Lance Floden, and Lyn Hann. He is also survived by his loving wife, Lauren (Haynes) Floden, and their two children, Alicia (Floden) Keast, and Abigail Floden, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Maryann Floden.

Nils’ work career was built around his many skills and talents. Before he and his family came to Sherman, he was a welder in Gladstone, New Jersey, and a campground manager in Virginia. The job of managing Land of the Vikings in Sherman, Pennsylvania, brought him and his wife and two daughters to the area, where they made their home in Sherman for over forty years. During those forty years, he traveled extensively as a welder/fabricator, and in retirement he provided transportation for children in the Wayne Highland School District.

Nils found pleasure in metal detecting, finding treasure in myriad places, including historical sites. Nils’ life was transformed by a gift of faith and a love for God’s creation. He loved hunting and fishing, and picking blueberries. Nils was known by many as a man who could fix anything, and beloved as a man who would help anyone in need. Nils took special delight in operating a ham radio and communicating with people around the world.
