Douglas R. Samson

Douglas R Samson, 86, of Chattanooga, TN and Binghamton, NY, went home to Heaven, Sunday, October 19, 2014. He was the son of the late Frank and Cora Mildred Cook Samson and was preceded in death by his precious wife Mary Louise Shreckengost Samson, and second wife Suzanne Kosinski; three brothers, Frank H. Samson, Perry Samson, and Sgt. Reeve Samson who gave his life serving in WWII; one sister, Dorothy Canfield; one son-in-law, Loyd Snell; and two grandchildren, Crystal Nichole Eddy and Andrew David Stephens.

Once an orphan, he now has dozens of descendents. Survivors include his sister Jean Katleski, brother Robert Samson (Genevieve), his children, Carol Schreiner (Robin Schreiner), Dorothy Stephens (Gregory Stephens), Donald Samson (Patrica Maslin Samson), Raymond Samson (Anna Maslin Samson), and Patricia Eddy (Steven Eddy);

41 grandchildren – Kristin Decker Wirtz, Daniel Snell, Keri and Shaun Cambron, Travis Snell, Hannah McNabb; Jeremy and April Stephens, Jesse and Heather Stephens, Melanie and Elliot Ortiz, Darrell and Lindsey Stephens, Shari Stephens; Heather and Tim Norton, Nicki and Orlando Anthony, Tracy and John Sandau, Don and Domi Samson, Holly and David Slack; Michael Samson, Steven and Sarah Samson, Eddie Samson, Chelsea and Michael Kuss, David Samson, Antone Samson, Brejuan Samson, Xavier Samson; Alecia and Josh Kee, Timothy and Carrie Eddy, Adam and Esther Eddy

41 great grandchildren – Aubrey and Kinsley Cambron; Carter, Cooper, and Alexandra Stephens, Matthew and Kayla Stephens, Nina, Jenna, Kara, and Maya Ortiz, Jackson and Emerson Stephens; Bradley, David, and Jessica Norton, Kayla, Tyra, Justin, Tyler and Janaya Anthony; John Jr, Andrew and Isabella Sandau, Connor and Carter Reeve Samson, Daniel and Evelyn Slack; Anbriella, Elisha and Ivan Samson, Christopher and Bradley Kuss; Jonas and Benson Kee, Hannah, Aubrey and Austin Eddy, and Nathan, Abby and Annabelle Eddy

59 foster grandchildren, and many wonderful in-laws and nieces and nephews.

His desire was to be remembered as one who Loved his Lord and loved his family dearly. Marriage and family were so important because of losing his mom at age 2 and his dad at age 7 leaving him a foster child. He was a U.S Army veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Practical Bible College, Johnson City, NY. He also served as a Baptist pastor of several churches in NY and PA, was a missionary with Source of Light Ministries in Madison, GA., and worked at Vail Ballou Printing Press.

Funeral services in Chattanooga will be at 4:00PM, Thursday at East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home following the family receiving friends from 2:00-4:00PM. Funeral services in NY will be Saturday, 2:30PM at Whitney Point Baptist Church, Whitney Point, NY following visitation from 12:30PM – 2:30PM. Burial follows at South Street Cemetery, Triangle, NY with Military Honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Glovehouse Inc, 127 Washington Ave., Endicott, NY 13760 providing luggage bags to foster children as one piece of stability when taken from home to home. Doug always had a passionate heart for foster children.
