Barbara “Barb” June (Moses) Button, 100-years-loved, of Hillcrest, passed away into the Lord’s embrace on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Barbara, born on June 15, 1922, was truly ~ 100 years loved! She is once again reunited with her loving husband, H. Marshall “Marsh” Button, after 61 ½ years of marriage, who predeceased her in 2004. She was also predeceased by loving parents, Oscar and Mabel Moses, and 7 siblings, Robert, Iona, Ralph, Lucille, Raymond, Kenneth, Charles; loving niece Marilyn Frink, nephews James Voelzer, Dick Moses; many treasured friends. Barb, “Mom”, is survived by her son Dennis M. Button, and daughter Susan L. Brown (Tim); she was “Gram and Grammy” to her loving Grandchildren Emily J. Wood (Mike), Tyler F. Eshleman (Whitney), Charles A. Button and Jeffrey M. Button; she was “GG” to her precious Great-Grandchildren Maisy A. Wood, Miley G. Wood, and Summit F. Eshleman; and “Auntie Barb or Barbie” to her loving 9 nieces and 7 nephews; 28 great-nieces/nephews. Barb is also survived by her dear friend and love-of-her-life for the past 14 years, Lewis “Lew” Jayne; dearest long-time friend Sue DiMascio; dear friends Norma Sterner, Pat Grant, and Jean Hill.
She attended North High School; worked at McLean’s; Bakers Store in Hillcrest; Hillcrest Pharmacy for 31 years; taught 5th/6th Grade Dancing at Hillcrest School; organized C.V.C.O. Dances/Record Hops for Teenagers; loved to dance with her Marsh at Cadence Dance Club nights out with their wonderful friends ~ Rowes, Walls, Smiths, DiMascio’s, Coles, Marino’s, Jones, Ottoway’s, Transues ~ home get-togethers/Pinochle game nights; Line Dancing at the Mall.
Barb, beautiful eyes of blue, was a beautiful spirit and light of the “Greatest Generation”, and experienced being a WWII bride of her beloved Marsh as his B-17 was shot down & he was captured as a German POW for 13 months. Her Faith in God and loving support from entire family gave her the courage and hope she needed to endure that chapter of her life. She loved her family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren with every breath she took; she and her Marsh wholeheartedly participated throughout the years in their kids’ and grands’ academic events/dance recitals/sports games-activities (she brought Candy/Blow Pops!); she loved and was dedicated to maintain the family’s Moses Cottage at Lake Arrowhead, contributing to 93 years of treasured memories.
She had a huge heart to care for others, spreading love, joy, smiles, laughter throughout her life; was blessed with good health, took care of herself (always looking her beautiful self each day), including joining Curves, then Planet Fitness in her 80’s, then Anytime Fitness/Nimmonsburg at 96-97 years young; volunteered at Meals on Wheels; loved Garage Sale “garaging” with Lew for many years, trying different places for lunch, playing cards at kitchen table, taking walks “around the block” hand-in-hand with Lew; volunteered at Project Concern for several years.
We are overwhelmed with thankfulness to God for the blessing of Mom in our lives and all the lives she touched! A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service is planned on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Northpointe Church, 126 E. Service Road, Hillcrest, 13901.
