It is with very heavy hearts that we mourn the loss our beloved amazing husband and incredible father. Peter passed away unexpectedly on October 6, 2020.
Survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Mary Leslie, and his loving and devoted Twin Boys, Quinton Alexander and Brandon Philip. He will be missed by his brother-in-law Ernie (Ontario), his brother Michael, his sister Susan, sister-in-law Valerie and her husband Wayne, and leaves behind his nephew, Ryan, niece Cassie and nephew Wesley (all of British Columbia). He is predeceased by his parents, John Michael Vick and Geraldine Farrar Scott, and in-laws,
Laslo and Mary Kovacs (Ontario).
His wife Mary and their sons “his Boys” were Peter’s life, enjoying every moment spent with them. He was “Dayya” to his Boys. His beautiful smile, humour and devotion to his family, and his infectious laugh will be forever missed. His passion was gardening, and his favourite meal was having a wonderful family roast beef dinner, Brandon’s favourite Hungarian meal, potato and sausage stew called “Paprikash” and he could never pass up enjoying a great steak with Quinton. Dayya and his Boys LOVED incredibly hot chicken wings and sure loved sharing one good pizza! He spent endless hours with his sons. Peter never gave up the chance to drive his Boys to their movie sets. No matter what time they would finish or start he was always there to pick them up. He would take them to school, make them lunch, watch their favourite shows with them and go to the movies together. He was involved in every facet of their life. Mary was his “Honey Bunny” and he never missed an occasion, their wedding anniversary which was on Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, birthdays, or for any reason, to bring her the biggest bouquet of Red Roses. They did everything together. He supported Mary in everything she did. In her personal business he was even crowned the “Ultimate Mr. Wonderful” and was given a pin to wear which he was so proud of and wore it like a trophy.
He loved Halloween, decorating the house with Mary, dressing up for kids’ parties and he always made sure there was a pumpkin patch for his Boys’ friends to take home not only goodies, but a little pumpkin to commemorate the evening. Ultimately, Christmas was Peter’s favourite time of year. He loved it so much that he would do alot of the decorating and put up the most beautiful tree for everyone to enjoy. Every year from the time his Boys were little, and into their teens, he would be first in line at Coquitlam Centre to wait for Santa’s arrival so his Boys would be first to see Santa. He couldn’t wait for that day. It was his favourite tradition. His family meant everything to him and he meant everything to them.
Peter proudly worked as a Forklift Operator/Warehouseman for Vitran Express Canada Inc., in Surrey, BC, for 30 years, and wasn’t quite ready to retire just yet.
There are so many more stories to share and memories that will be in our hearts forever and beyond. We will remember Peter for the person he was - kind, funny and loving, but the one thing we will ALL remember him for, no matter what, is that he ALWAYS had great hair!
Donations in Peter’s memory are welcome to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be forthcoming.
