Doris Marie Dandurand (West), 89 of Kentville, Nova Scotia and before Ottawa, Ontario and most recently the last few months in Vancouver, BC, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Born Nov 09, 1932 in St John, New Brunswick.
Doris was a McGill University and teachers college graduate but retired from teaching early and instead chose the path of Volunteer Worker and eventually Director of Volunteer Services at the Riverside Hospital in Ottawa. She was a lifelong Member of the Girl Guides of Canada to include executive positions and many years with the Catholic Woman’s League to include President plus being a proud lifelong Blood Donor.
Doris was an accomplished Pianist, Singer, Choir Leader and Supporter of Youth Activities. Very well known as a Major Supporter of Canadian Athletes and an Avid Canadian Sports Fan.
Doris married her beloved husband Captain Raymond George Dandurand on Feb 17, 1958 in Montreal, Quebec. Together they raised 3 sons, Bruce, Mark and Paul, until Ray’s early death on July 05, 1975.
Survived by sons Bruce, Mark and Paul, grandsons Corey, Michael, Christopher, Matthew, John and granddaughter Jessica and great grandchildren Grace, Elena, Hadlee, Caleb, Lucas and McKinley.
Predeceased by her father William West, mother Annie West (Hilton), brothers Ted and William and sister Margaret.
There will be a family viewing on Thursday, Aug 25 from 3:30-5:00 at First Memorial Burkeview Chapel in Port Coquitlam, BC. Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Assumption RC Church in Port Coquitlam, BC at 11AM PT Aug 26, 2022. As a long time parishioner of St Joseph’s Church in Kentville, NS, Doris’ service will be Live Streamed to White Family Funeral Home in Kentville at 3 PM Atlantic Time Aug 26, 2022.
A Celebration of Life and Interment will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her favourite charity, The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
