"I don't know...I slept through all of it.
Stanley Parker, chemist, adventurer, friend to all strangers, and joke teller, died peacefully in his sleep on February 8, 2017, a few days before his 88th birthday.
Stanley loved to make people laugh, using almost any means necessary. If you met Stanley, you couldn't forget him--and through his many travels, he left a legacy of memories throughout the globe.
With his altruistic spirit, he spent countless time volunteering and helping others, including working for many summers of his retirement in a Polish orphanage. Even in his last remaining days, he often was found holding hands and comforting distressed fellow patients.
An avid bicyclist, outdoorsman and fisherman, Stanley leaves his anchor and loving wife of 60 years, Ruth. He is fondly remembered by his three children, David, Janet, and Adam who gratefully recognize their father's sacrifices for them. He also leaves 10 delightful grandchildren and two older sisters, Irene and Ro.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness be performed in Stanley's memory.
His funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 13, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 770 Kilbourne Ave, Englewood, Florida.
