Shirley Ilene Welty of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on October 25, 2024 in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Shirley was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Richard and Mildred Krebs on July 12, 1938. She graduated from high school in 1955 and was married in 1957 to Kenneth Welty for 59 years until his death in 2015.
Shirley is survived by her children: Kathy Click, of Greenwood, Indiana, Vicki Byrne of Port Charlotte, Florida and Michael Welty of Louisville, Kentucky. Grandchildren: Christopher Vargas, Eric Vargas, Christopher Welty and Justin Welty. Great grandchildren: Riley Welty, Haley Welty, Jeremiah Welty, Hudson Welty, Hazel Vargas, Lucy Vargas and Keegan Welty. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Welty, her father Richard (James) Krebs, her sister Diane, and brother Jimmy.
Shirley was a great cook and homemaker all her life. She loved to read, clean, go on cruises, vacation, New Orleans Mardi Gras and was a “Lucky Lady” when it came to gambling! She was a strong woman and fighter to the end.
