Jay D Simpson, 60, passed away peacefully in hospice in Port Charlotte Florida Hospital Tuesday December 5th,2023. He was born in St Johnsbury, Vermont, to Russell and Ruth (Harris) Simpson. He graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1981, continuing his education at Montpelier Culinary Arts and Cooking school before continuing onto Julia Child’s Cooking School in Manhattan New York.
He pursued a career with ABC Sports, NBC, and CBS working the Winter Olympics for 16 years also while living in France. He produced a show with Dave Letterman’s mother while working for the television networks during the Olympics. He lived in 7 countries plus Hawaii, visited 23 countries and went around the world 3 times. He lived a colorful life and always a lot of fun. The last 15 years, he spent most of his time in Lakeworth Fl., and before that he lived in Bethlehem Pa. He hosted many family and friends' events, throwing parties with a fun atmosphere, and lots of wonderful food. The Turducken was one of his specialties.
Surviving family members include: father Russell Simpson, of St Petersburg FL, and Will-O-Wood Campground in VT during the summers; sister Robin (Simpson) Young with husband Steve; two nephews Brent Young and fiancée Christina Glowac of Stowe VT; Joshua Young wife Anna (Amadeo) Young Gilbert AZ; soon to be 5 Great Nieces and Nephews Landen, Henry, Oliver Young and Trevor and Julie to join our family in May. The White family of Lakeworth Fl and his best friend Gigi Garcia of Jupiter FL. He was predeceased by his mother Ruth (Harris) Simpson in 1996, parental grandparents Roland and Beulah (Hitchcock) Simpson both in 1995. Maternal grandparents Ralph Harris 1968 and Irene (McCarthy) Harris 1951, Maternal Great Aunt Helen Harris in 1983.
Celebration of life will be in two places: February 10th, 2024 in Lakeworth Fl at Rudy's Pub, as well as June 2024 in Vermont.
