Charles Joseph Hauck

Charles Joseph Hauck, 81, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024. Born on April 17, 1943, in Teaneck, New Jersey, Charles was a man of deep love, unwavering dedication, and boundless generosity.

On June 20, 1970, Charles married the love of his life, Evelyn Hauck, in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. Their enduring marriage of over 54 years was a testament to their love and devotion. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and service.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. His time in the military exemplified his commitment to duty and patriotism. After completing his service, he had a long and fulfilling career as a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service. In addition to his professional achievements, he was an active member of the Elks Lodge and a supporter of the local VA chapter, demonstrating his dedication to his community and country.

Charles was a passionate sports enthusiast and a proud grandfather. He dedicated countless hours to supporting his family’s activities—coaching soccer and Taekwondo, cheering at flag football games, and traveling across the United States with his granddaughter Briana for Taekwondo competitions. His pride for Briana’s achievements as a 3rd-degree black belt and world champion was immeasurable, and he shared her successes with everyone he met.

Known for his warmth and generosity, Charles made sure no one in his home ever went hungry, famously overstocking the cabinets and feeding everyone who crossed his doorstep. He had a knack for turning everyday moments into extraordinary acts of care—whether it was mowing the lawn with precision, planting roses in New York, or growing pineapples in Florida.

A devoted husband, Charles showered Evelyn with thoughtful gestures, from surprising her with flowers to ensuring her car was always filled with gas. His actions spoke volumes about his love and dedication to her happiness and well-being.

Charles faced life’s challenges with strength and grace, especially while caring for his son, C.J., during his battle with a terminal illness. Despite the hardship, Charles remained steadfast, proud, and loving in his care for his family.

Charles lived an active and vibrant life, from being a high school football captain to walking with weights well into his 50s. He embraced every moment with enthusiasm and vitality, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Madge Evelyn Hauck; his daughter, Melissa Marie Miner, and her husband, Jeremy F. Miner; his cherished grandchildren, Briana Hauck, Jacob Brian Miner, and Eli Gage Miner; his brothers, David Hauck (Annie) and Tommy Hauck; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Charles joins his beloved son, Charles Joseph Hauck Jr. (C.J.), who preceded him in death on July 12, 2019.

Charles will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend whose life was a testament to love, loyalty, and family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Homes & Cremation Services (2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sarasota National Cemetery (9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241).
