Agnes M. Wilkinson, 88, of Nokomis, FL passed away June 26, 2014. She was born December 1, 1925 in Chattaroy, WV and moved to this area in 1970 from Huntington, WV. Agnes worked as an LPN in Huntington, but spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, caring for her family. In earlier years, she was an active member of the Order of the Amaranth, where she was a past presiding officer and at the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Venice. She was the secretary/treasurer in the 70's and 80's at the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Dept where her husband Ralph had been the Fire Chief. Agnes was a member of the Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church. She enjoyed keeping busy doing all kinds of crafting, and had also spent time working in retail sales.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Wilkinson of Sarasota, FL; Pamela DeNeen of Nokomis, FL and Virginia Hall of Vinton, LA; grandchildren, Stephen (Valeta) Clark, David and Dennis Beers, Charles (Sarah) Hall, Melissa Barber, George DeNeen and Virginia Driggers; great grandchildren, Brian, Bradley and Samantha Clark, Maddi Beers, Dennis Wilkerson, Tyler Howell and Kimberlee Barber. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Wilkinson on January 15, 2003.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am till 11:00am, Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 1935 S Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home with the Rev Ralph Burton officiating. Burial will follow at the Jesse Knight Memorial Cemetery in Nokomis.
