James Paul Ratliff, 74, of Nederland, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. He was born on August 9, 1937 to James Milton and Agnes Lucille Ratliff in Cumberland, Kentucky.
Paul served in the Army Reserves and married Betty Adams on December 2, 1960. He was a very devoted member of First Church of the Nazarene in Port Arthur. He was very passionate about his family and his fellow church members. He loved tinkering with electronic gadgets.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronnie Ratliff.
His survivors include his wife, Betty Ratliff of Nederland; 3 daughters, Paula Capello and husband Keith of New Braunfels, Pam Lide and husband Brian of Orangefield, Tricia Fells and husband Daniel of Bridge City; 2 sisters, Jackie Bartlett of Georgia, Betty Amy and husband Wayne of Groves and 7 grandchildren, Heather Capello, Ryan Capello, Brittany Lide, Brandi Lide, Austin Bevel, Taia Fells and Naomi Fells.
A gathering of Paul’s family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel, Port Arthur.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ed Wittung, Pastor George Hearne and Pastor James West officiating. Burial will immidiatley follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
