Ella Fay McGill, 84, of Beaumont, passed on Saturday, October 19th at 9:05 a.m. surrounded by loved ones. Fay was born January 6th, 1940, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Clayton Harris Hickey and Eula Rose Hickey.
Fay married and had two sons, Jeff and Jamie Albers. Divorced, she later married Horace McGill, and together, they raised her sons.
She was known for her infinite wisdom, witty comebacks, and humorous catchphrases. Such as “Well damn!”, “Shut up, you!”, “And Bob's your uncle!” Mostly, she was known for her love of her children and grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Nana”, she made sure to spend equal and precious time with each grandchild as they grew. Quick to pull over on the side of the road for a “courtesy lesson” if one of the grandchildren had forgotten their manners.
In her later years, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Not one to dwell on or worry her loved ones, she took the diagnosis in stride, enjoying every single moment like it was her last. During her bout with Alzheimer’s, she cemented her bond with her caretaker/daughter-in-law, Sharon Dale, and doted on her every chance she could.
Fay left an impact on all who knew and loved her. Ella Fay McGill is preceded in death by her mother and father, Clayton and Eula Hickey. Her brother Gene Hickey and her husband Horace McGill. She leaves behind her sons and their wives, Jeff and Kim Albers and Jamie and Sharon Albers. Her grandchildren Craig, Katie, Holly, and Jamie Jr., and her great-grandchildren Emma, Kaylen, Jacob, Keller, Kooper, Waylon, and Greta.
