Aart passed away peacefully at Ty Watson House on Nov. 16, 2021, at the age of 85. He is predeceased by his twin brother Bill, mother Dirkje, father Aart Sr, sister Petronalla, sister Dorothea, brother Albert, brother Helmert, and sister Hilda. He is survived by his loving wife Bernadette, niece Thea, his sister Nancy, his brother Adrian, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Aart was born in Milligan, Holland then moved to Canada in 1953 settling down at Brandon, Manitoba. He stayed in Prince George for 20 years then moved to Port Alberni. He and his twin brother were both farmers and retired carpenters, who built hundreds of houses including the house he lived in. Aart also leaves his beloved dog, Skippy.
