Funeral services will be at First United Methodist Church, 708 Julia St., Poplarville, MS, 39470 on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 11:00 am. Dr. Eric Pridmore will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in Poplarville City Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10:00 am at the Methodist Church prior to the service.
Suzy was born on March 23, 1925, in Slidell, Louisiana to Homer and Nellie Fritchie. She attended Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia before transferring and graduating from Louisiana State University. She married Lampton Williams in 1948 and became a resident of Poplarville. Suzy was a homemaker devoted to her family. After her children left home, she became Lampton’s legal secretary.
Family was a top priority to Suzy and getting all her children and grandchildren together was one of the joys of her life. She loved to travel, and she and Lampton took many trips around the United States and abroad. Another favorite was dancing and Lampton was her willing partner.
Surviving family members include three children, Susan Gornall (John) of Atlanta, GA, Neal Williams of Hattiesburg, Kay Barnard (Bill) of Milton, GA; nine grandchildren, Matney Gornall, Ian Gornall, Colin Gornall, Trey Williams, Cory Williams, Susan Neal Wiley, Karen Kubow, Brittany Erwin, Brian Barnard; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beth Dendinger, Grace Burkes; one sister-in-law, Mowetha Williams; and many loving nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lampton Williams; her daughter, Beth Williams; her brother, Homer Fritchie, Jr.; and her sister, Barbara Ware.
