Bernice Miller

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday February 27, 2012 at Oak Hill United Pentecostal Church for Mrs. Bernice Marie Miller, 77, of Brandon, Mississippi who went Home to be with her Lord on Friday February 24, 2012 in St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Reverend David Beckon and Reverend Larry Head will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

A humble and loving servant of the Lord, Bernice was a homemaker who was a friend and Mother to many who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Miller is preceded in death by her parents, Colon Joe and Dollie Ryals Merritt; her loving step-mother, Idell Merritt; her first husband, James Lawrence Slade; her second husband, Jack E. Miller; two daughters, Diane Slade and LaChrisha Slade; one son, Darrell Ray Slade; one sister, Gloria Johnson; and one brother who died at birth.

Survivors include one son, James Slade of Akron, Ohio; one stepson, Jack E. Miller, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida; seven daughters, Annette Slade of Douglasville, Georgia, Janice Culver and her husband Richard of Douglasville, Georgia, Cindy Slade of Tennessee, Jewell Gonzalez and her husband Donald of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Donna Coleman and her husband Stephen of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Nadine Torkan of California, and Mary Slade of Brandon, Mississippi; one sister, Alice Johnson of Gulfport, Mississippi; and one brother, C.J. Merritt of Poplarville, Mississippi; twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday February 26, 2012 at White Funeral Home, Poplarville.
