THERE'S NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I DON'T MISS YOU MAMA

Met Barbara when I moved from my home town of Franklinton. Followed her all over Baton Rouge at the various Waffle Houses she worked at over 30 years. She was always kind to all. I walked into Waffle House on College Drive to find out she had been promoted to glory. I knew she was from  Poplarville. I am blessed to call Barbara my friend!

I met Barbara when I went to La with the Red Cross in 2005 when Katrina hit.  We stayed in a little church in Baton Rouge.  One morning on our way to NO we stopped to have breakfast at the Waffle House where she worked and that is how we met.  When it was time to leave that morning I had her ph # and address on a napkin and that was the last time I saw her while there.  I just loved her beautiful smile and the way she treated all with just pure sweetness.  I got back to Ca and things returned to normal.  We started sending cards to one another and talked on the ph at times.  I love quilting and began taking some classes to hone in on my skills.  I took a class called Scrappy Flag which was 46"x 33".   I finally finished my project and loved the way it turned out.  I love the flag, I love to see it as it waves in the breeze, the beautiful colors, and what it means to our country.  I don't know if I ever shared with Barbara about how much I loved it but one day in a still small voice I heard God saying this flag is for Barbara, I'm not going to lie it was a bit of a struggle letting it go after all the hours I had spend making it but it was for her and so I sent it to her and she loved it and I was so happy.  We kept in touch and I found out she was in the battle of her life but never a complaint.  I  got to see my beautiful friend in 2011 when my husband had a conference in NO, we met at the WH where she worked and that was the last time I saw her.  When I heard of her passing I knew she had fought with all she had and someone was calling her home.  I want her family to know how special their mama was and how special she was to me.  I will never forget her and how much she loved the Tigers and all that was purple.  My sweet friend you will be missed but one day I know we will meet again .  To her family,  you will be in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.  May  God Bless you and give you strength in the days ahead.  I will miss you my friend.  Rosalie

I work in the pharmacy where  Ms Barbara got her meds always a smile and never past in front the pharmacy without stopping to tell us hello and ask how we were doing she will be missed
