Almond Garry Lumpkin Sr. of Poplarville, Mississippi departed this life into God’s presence on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the age of 91. Almond was born in the Sones Chapel Community on April 15, 1933 to Benjamin Pearlie Lumpkin. After completing of high school, he graduated from Pearl River Community College and joined the United States Air Force. After earning an honorable discharge, he went on to further his education earning his Juris Doctor. Almond practiced law in Poplarville for many years before working with the Veterans Administration until retirement. Almond was a caring and supportive friend, always willing to help anyone in need. He was an avid family man who loved to spend time with his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time on the river, fishing, hunting, attending church service and talking with people. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Katheriana “Gisela” Lumpkin; grandchild, Jennifer Louise Lumpkin; sister, Joyce Tynes and his brothers, Lil’ Robert Lumpkin, Bennie Lumpkin Jr., Karen Lumpkin and Wayne Lumpkin. Left to forever cherish his memory are his sons, Brian (Tonya) Lumpkin Sr. and Almond Garry (Lisa) Lumpkin Jr; grandchildren, Sheila (Russell Jr.) Buras, Jamie Strahan, Brian (Heather) Lumpkin, Maven Lumpkin, Merishcha Lumpkin, Kaleb Lumpkin and Felix Lumpkin and his great-grandchildren, Eldon Buras, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Buras, Alexis Buras, Alzia Strahan and Lilly Strahan.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at White Funeral Home in Poplarville. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Sones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
