Ella Ruth Perry Sewell, age 84, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Church Street Personal Care Home in Ecru. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pontotoc where she worked in the Nursery Department for over 50 years and was a member of the WMU. She was a retired Administrative Assistant at the MS Department of Human Services and a former Jaycette. She enjoyed growing flowers, spending time with her grandchildren and cooking for her family and friends.
Services will be at 3 PM Thursday, June 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Pontotoc with Dr. Ken Hester and Rev. Don Winter officiating; burial will follow in the Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter: Kathy Reece (Keith) of Tupelo, MS; one son: Perry Sewell (Sharen) of Pontotoc, MS; one sister: Maxine Cobb (John Ray) of New Albany, MS; three grandchildren: Ian Boswell of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Haley Sewell and Wesley Sewell both of Pontotoc, MS; and special friends: David and Bobbie Harrelson of Pontotoc, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas Perry and Trebye Bullock Perry; her husband of 64 years: Billy Joe Sewell; an infant son: and two granddaughters: Kathryn Bethany Reece and Ilisabeth Anna Reece.
Pallbearers will be: Ian Boswell, Wesley Sewell, Johnny Cobb, David Helms, David Harrelson and Judge Fred Wicker.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home and from 2 to 3 PM Thursday at the First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church, C/O The Nursery Fund, 31 W. Washington Street, Pontotoc, MS 38863.
