Jerry Wayne Fitts, age 84, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at his residence. He was born On January 25, 1940 to Elmer and Dera Waters Fitts. Jerry grew up as a Presbyterian with a love for God, country, family and Alabama football. He graduated from Parrish High School in Alabama in 1957 and spent the next two years in the US Navy followed by two years in the US Air Force. Jerry was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion service organizations. With disabilities acquired during his military service, he was accepted into a Veteran Administration work study program that resulted in full time employment and subsequent retirement from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Gulfport/Biloxi. His hobbies were watching the Atlanta Braves and fishing.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Pontotoc City Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Smith officiating and Bill Wilson will deliver the eulogy. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the Fitts family with the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Louanna Raiteri Fitts; his three sons, Victor Fitts, Wade Fitts (Jenna) and Sam Fitts; two step-daughters, Patti Raiteri and Robin Raiteri-Lynch; ten grandchildren, Brooke Fitts Carneiro (Vin), Bradley Fitts (Emily), Michael Fitts (Mary Beth), Nicole Fitts, Brodie Fitts, Harrison Fitts, Madison Fitts, Ashlyn Fletcher Rager (Brendan), Trey Broussard and Ashely Adams; six great-grandchildren, Landry Fitts, Rowdy Fitts, Viviane Carneiro, Jameson Rager, Alyda Adams and Bobby Wayne Adams; and his much loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Box; two brothers, Gary Fitts and Bobby Fitts and two step-sons, Pete Raiteri, Jr. and Larry Raiteri.
