She was born on June 10, 1944, in Bardwell, Kentucky. She was a faithful member and pianist of Watchman Baptist Church.
“Mama Sue” as she was affectionately called by many was a loving, faithful, selfless, virtuous, kind, encouraging and praying woman, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed fishing, watching her hummingbirds, going to the mountains, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and was always ready for an adventure. She retired from North Pontotoc cafeteria after 41 years, where she was known as the favorite cafeteria lady to hundreds of students and staff members.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ronnie Sutton, to whom she was married for 63 years. Also, preceding her was her mother, Ina Maye Garrett and two sisters, Linda Lemons and Bobby Patterson.
Mama Sue leaves behind three sons and daughters-in-law; Ronnie Dale and Becky Sutton, Wade and Sandra Sutton and Brian and Michelle Sutton; three brothers, David Garrett (Cindy), Don Garrett and Kevin Garrett (Cindy) and one sister, Donna Laird (Russell); her beloved grandchildren, Erin Sutton Washington (D.J), Jeremy Sutton (Rebecca), Seth Sutton, Amber Sutton Gray (Mark), Caroline Sutton, West Sutton and Braxton Sutton; and great-grandchildren, Kaden Washington, Keegan Washington, Easton Sutton and Cayson Sutton, a special aunt, Mary Jo Summer, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Watchman Baptist Church, Thaxton, with Bro. C.R. Curtman and Bro. Larry Hyde officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at Browning Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sutton, Seth Sutton, West Sutton, Braxton Sutton, D.J. Washington, Mark Gray, Kaden Washington and Keegan Washington. Honorary Pallbearers will be Erin Washington, Amber Gray, Caroline Sutton, Rebecca Sutton, Cayson Sutton and Easton Sutton.
